March 21 : Scams. Talk scams with Juliette Reynolds and Neil Petersen, from the Barrie Fraud Unit . Fraudsters are getting more and more sophisticated and nobody is immune from being targeted. Learn how to recognize a scam and how to protect yourself.
April 18 - Ward 2 Councillor Craig Nixon. Craig Nixon has lived in Barrie since 1980 and has been a Councillor for the City of Barrie for the past year and a half. This will be your opportunity to talk to Councillor Nixon about issues of importance to you.
May 16 - Speaking of Wildlife. Speaking of Wildlife is a wildlife education centre that provides permanent sanctuary to non-releasable Ontario wildlife. Many of their animal residents have been injured, orphaned, abandoned or illegally kept as pets and cannot be returned to the wild where they belong. On May 20 you can meet some of the animals from the centre and learn about the center's education programs, rescue efforts etc. This is sure to be a great presentation.
June 20 - Wendy McQuaig is a local author who has written a book called Behind the Pickle Jar. It is an historical fiction based in the Coldwater and Orillia area. This historical fiction takes the reader on a journey through yesteryear, from horse-drawn buggies and church socials to Instagram and iphones. The office has a copy of the book if you would like to read it prior to the discussion. Wendy will have some copies of her book available to purchase.
